I am an experienced instructor and parent. I love teaching and enjoy helping others find the answers that elude them in their studies. I have more than 25 years of health and wellness instruction experience ranging from one-on-one to small groups, as well as larger groups of up to 300. There is no better feeling than leading a client to reaching their wellness goals... most often, they learn how to improve their quality of life, which is what I enjoy the most! Additionally, being a parent affords me the chance to tutor my own son... it's great when he gets a good grade and realizes that it was his steadfast effort that made it possible!
As an officer in the US Air Force, I was a wellness program director for numerous squadrons throughout my career. I had the pleasure of being taught "how to teach" when I attended and graduated from the Air Force Academic Instructor school. I was also afforded the unique opportunity of being part of an academic team that developed curriculum for A-10 aircraft pilots stationed right here at our own Davis-Monthan Air Force Base; an experience for which I am truly grateful!
I now own and operate my own wellness company as an independent contractor out at the Air Force base. I also teach as an Adjunct Instructor at Brown Mackie College, Tucson where I have had the pleasure of teaching: Anatomy & Physiology I and II, Nutrition, Introduction to Health, Human Diseases, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Medical Law and Ethics, Risk Management in Healthcare Settings, Fitness Assessment and Exercise Prescription for Health, Human Resources, and Health Information Management Systems.
My educational background includes a BS degree from the University of Arizona, MBA University of Phoenix, Health and Fitness Specialist Certification with the American College of Sports Medicine, and over 500 hours of in-residence courses in Swedish Massage and Shiatsu with the Desert Institute of the Healing Arts in Tucson (now Cortiva).
