My name is Nadia H., and I am a fourth-year graduate student obtaining a PhD in Cancer Biology. In my graduate studies I have excelled in courses such as Nucleic Acids, Cell Biology, and Pathology.
For my undergraduate studies, I majored in Zoology and minored in Genetics at North Carolina State University, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude. After obtaining my B.S. in 2009, I moved directly to Tucson to begin my graduate studies in Cancer Biology.
In high school, I excelled in I.B. Biology (higher-level) and Math (standard-level). Science isn't my only forte. In high school I took a graphics design class, became proficient at Photoshop, and was awarded Graphic Designer of the Year. I have been working with Photoshop ever since for image manipulation as a hobby, and for creating posters and paper figures in my science career.
I like working one-on-one with students because it's the only way to get on the same level as the student and confront the problem head-on. I understand the frustrations of being a student, since I am still one myself, and feel I can more easily put myself in the shoes of the student. I really enjoy aiding the student to achieve true understanding of the material, and thus to get the student up to speed with the curriculum being taught.
