A big part of my teaching philosophy came from the wonderful high school math teachers who insisted that we learn how to think and reason. After I changed from chemical engineering to mathematics, I did not have to go to classes any longer. I had the opportunity to meet with a math professor twice a week for consultation and to decide if I was ready for the five-hour test. The test would only be passed if I had accomplished 80% of the correct answers. This way of learning allowed me to develop a study method and forced me to think.

I have been tutoring since I was 18 years old and I have taught a wide variety of courses, from high school math at 7th, 9th, 10th , 11th and 12th grades as well as freshman level engineers to high school Physics and Chemistry.

A very important task in achieving success in math is learning and interpretation of the necessary language, to convey mathematical ideas.

I believe learning takes place best in a positive and safe environment.

I am frequently sharing my enthusiasm for mathematics to decrease the anxiety and frustration most of the students.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

While I was living in Texas I taught, noncredit, ESL classes at Blinn College from September 2008 to April 2010.

To complete each course it was required for the student to attend 32 hours of instructions. After finishing the objective they were given a certificate of approval of the level.

I have also taught English as a Second Language to employees of the company Igloo to help them understand the directions given to them in order to perform their job well.
