Flute, Oboe, Saxophone, Music Theory/Composition Tutor

I am a graduate from Morehead State University. I have been playing the flute for 12 years, the oboe for 5 years, and the saxophone for 6 years. I have been composing/arranging music for 6 years. I completed my student teaching at Letcher County Central High School where I taught lessons regularly. At Morehead State, I served as Music Theory/Ear Training Tutor for 2 years and saw noticeable improvement in all of my students, I have composed multiple pieces which were performed by Morehead State, I did many arrangements of pieces for the faculty at Morehead State and I scored a 10 minute film by a Senior Film major. My student's successes are my utmost priority in lessons, and I make it my business to help students overcome any and all difficulties they may face in their musical studies. Put simply, music is my passion and it is a great joy for me to help others realize that passion for themselves.

Music Theory

In college, I was the campus music theory tutor to many students and came to know the subject early in high school. I can present the material in a digestible manner to anyone interested in improving their knowledge of music theory and composition, no matter their age or experience level.

Composition (Music)

I have been composing music for over 10 years. I have written music for my peers to perform on their senior recitals, I have a film score credit and rescored a film online for my own purposes. I have written 3 concert works, an orchestral violin concerto, many pieces for flute choir, saxophone quartet, and mixed ensembles. I believe that nothing in life is accomplished without hard work and Composition is no exception. This is my largest passion in life.

Ear Training

While in college, I tried to train my ear in all classical repertoire and contemporary literature. I was the Music Theory Tutor at Morehead State University for two years and received high marks in all of my ear training classes.

Piano

I have played piano for over 10 years and have composed music on the piano for 8 of those years. I have a music education degree and have given private lessons on this instrument to help my students to learn not only piano, but also the musical theory that goes with it.

Saxophone

I have 8 years of experience playing all three of the most popular varieties of saxophone (Alto, Tenor, and Baritone). I played these instruments in marching bands, concert bands, and jazz bands. I believe that nothing in life is accomplished without hard work, and the saxophone is no exception. I have also written pieces for the instrument in an ensemble setting.

Flute

I have been playing the flute for 13 years, I have experience playing professional literature in college ensembles and community bands. For my senior recital, I performed classical pieces, contemporary pieces, and my won compositions. I believe nothing is accomplished in life without hard work and the flute is no exception.

Oboe

I have been playing the oboe for 5 years, and have played juries on the instrument in college. I took this instrument to Europe in 2009 and played concerts for my peers. I believe that nothing in life is accomplished without hard work and the oboe is no exception. I also have experience playing the Cor Anglais (English Horn).
