Retired College Instructor Will Tutor Business and Economics

After more than 20 years working in the Aerospace Industry at a management level, I retired and returned to college to earn my Secondary Teaching Certification.

I taught at one high school for 7 years and a second high school for 2 years. My teaching concentrated on primarily Economics and Business classes. I began to teach, on a part-time basis, at Pima Community College and at Chaparral College as an Adjunct Instructor. I eventually stopped teaching high hchool when offered a full time Instructor's position at Chaparral College. I taught a variety of classes, including Micro/Macro Economics, Pre-Algebra, Business, Management, and Developing a Business Plan.

I often found the need to tutor students who needed the extra help. We would arrange a time to meet at the college and would take as much time as necessary. Often, I met with students for most of the semester in order to help them be successful. My personal theory is my students are my customers and I must be there for them when necessary. I have used that approach throughout my career in education and will continue to use it as long as I teach.

I have retired as a full time instructor after 17 years in education but I wish to continue in some manner. Tutoring is the avenue I can use. I would be happy to discuss any tutoring needs that you can use.

Reading

As a Middle School Teacher years ago, I taught ADD and ADHD students a variety of subjects, including Reading. I totally enjoyed working with these young people because their energy level is generally very high and once they feel comfortable with the teacher, their desire to learn can become very exciting and rewarding.

Economics

I have taught Micro and Macro Economics for 7 years at the high school level and ten years at the college level. Since retiring from every day teaching, I keep up my knowledge of Economics by studying daily activities and by reading available information on the topic. My wife and I have owned our own business and I have worked for a major aerospace company as a Business Manager, Project Manager and Marketing Manager for almost thirty years. Dyslexia

My first teaching assignment was with a Private School that specialized in teaching students who were dyslexic or had ADD/ADHD. I taught 6 and 7th grades on a full time basis for three years. I taught Reading, Writing, Math, History and Social Studies.
