Hola, if you want to have a lot of fun with a multi-media approach to Spanish learning, look no more! Spanish is the only subject I tutor, because I especially love Spanish.

I have taught college Spanish in Spanish-only at the U. of California in Santa Cruz (UCSC), and I have taught 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th grade bilingual classes. Currently I have 6 very loyal WyzAnt clients who have been with me over a year. I tutor high school students through another national company, and I have five private classes for adults.

I've lived in Madrid, Southern Spain, and Mexico, and have traveled in Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Puerto Rico. I just got back from two weeks in Spain, where I was focusing on land use, irrigation and water conservation practices, and agriculture. I spent two weeks in Ecuador last August.

While living in the Salinas-Monterey area of CA I worked 6 years selling advertising to many Spanish-only clients for Radio Suprema, Inc., a company of 3 Spanish language commercial radio stations. I was their token "gringa" of 24 Hispanic employees! Many days I spoke only Spanish all day with our various client-business owners and with our various DJs. I know about a thousand top-40 songs from the last 30 years!

My teaching style is very adaptable to your needs. I have many, many vocabulary bingo, go-fish and twenty questions games in Spanish, short verses that are examples of grammar concepts, and many grammar handouts and exercises because I am involved in writing a textbook. I am familiar with many current textbooks, Pima and CFSD curriculum, Duolingo and with Pimsleur, Rosetta Stone and Behind the Wheel CDs.

I have a strong business background in Spanish for adults. I tutor Rotarians and Rotary Group Study Exchange participants. Hispanic clients come to me to learn style, spelling and accent marks. I am the queen of accent mark placement!

Phonetics and accent are very strong points with me. I have a bunch of helpful tips for how to improve your pronunciation and accent.

My schedule is flexible and can probably accommodate your needs. Wednesdays and late afternoons and weekends are available. I'm looking forward to working with you!

Spanish

Depending on YOUR objectives, I generally teach Mexican Spanish with an emphasis on conversational and street styles, and I have a knowledge of young people's slang from working at Spanish language radio stations.

TOEFL

Having taught Spanish for many years, I have a complete grasp of the grammar and writing style of my native language, English. Also, years of proof reading give me the eagle eye for understanding and checking spelling and punctuation and the various rules.

I have a non-accent American English pronunciation suitable for radio/TV voice, which I have done in the past when I worked for radio stations and for ATT Broadband (now Comcast).

ESL/ESOL

Having an M. A. in Spanish and Latin American Studies, and being more than fifty years old, I have had an outstanding education in English grammar and writing skills.
