Southern California (Master's)
I am an Associate Professor of Computer Science at UWMC in Wausau, WI. I have undergraduate degrees in CS and Math from UWEC, and have taken courses in Business Administration from the University of Maryland. I have an Masters in Information Systems from Southern California.
I tutored during college, and have done tutoring on the side while teaching.
I can start tutoring you immediately in java online. I developed a software cloud-based IDE where all a student needs is a PC, a browser like IE, and internet access and I can provide tutoring over the internet. I can give a free demo. I use Skype to talk to the student and my tool so I can see the code and the student can see the same code. So we upload your java source code to the cloud and we both can view it, modify it, and execute the code.
Students who receive this tutoring say that it is better than face-to-face because of the convenience and that they are focused on the code and not the person.
In addition, I have played and coached various sports, including Baseball, Softball, Football, Tennis, Soccer, and Volleyball. I am an Associate Professor of Computer Science at UWMC in Wausau, WI. I have undergraduate degrees in CS and Math from UWEC, and have taken courses in Business… Read more
This was my first experience using an online tutoring source. I was a little skeptical because I wasn't sure how the tutor would be able to explain complex Java concepts remotely. After one session with Mark that has all been put to rest. With the use of various software applications and technology Mark is able to appear as if he is in the room next to me. He has a great personality and is very patient. This accompanied with his wealth of knowledge in various subject areas has made this a truly rewarding experience.
Mark is a great tutor. He started out with basic object-oriented programming concepts at a comfortable pace. Mark is able to describe difficult concepts in terms that I can easily relate to.
Using Team Viewer and Skype is a great way for me to learn. I would prefer that rather than physically meeting at a location to study. By being able to share screens, I can open up my programs I have been working on in class and he can jump right in and help me from my screen.
Once my semester started, he helped me review my in class material as well as homework assignments.
I plan on keeping him as a tutor throughout the semester.
Great tutor! Really love the way he tutors and carries out lessons. He did help me with two assignments and am really satisfied with the way he's helped! I think it would be great if he also did written lessons wherein he writes and explains a lesson instead of spending time online with you, but overall great tutor!
Mark is very good at teaching Java programming. The step by step processing is helping me understand the concepts in a clearer way. We cannot always get something to work on the first try, but we move on and come back to it when we have a better idea. In between sessions, I am able to practice adding on to my program and come back in the next session to further clear up my understanding.
Mark is such a great tutor! He knows the material and explains it at a great pace. I highly recommend him if you need a programming tutor. His method is very convenient and saves a lot of time.

Mark is an amazing tutor! He knows his stuff and can explain it in a way that makes sense. He will ask you questions to make/help you think which ensures that you are learning the material. Mark is very positive and enthusiastic which helps make the tutoring process pleasant. His style of teaching online is VERY convenient since it saves time of not having to travel to meet.
Mark is extremely patient, very knowledgeable, and has a great sense of humor so the tutoring sessions are never boring. He takes the time to make sure his student understands the information. I'm more than satisfied with the help I've received and the skills I've picked up. I would definitely recommend Mark. He's one-of-a-kind!
Puts a lot of energy into his students to help them understand the programming content and how to apply the information. Uses examples to explain the content and works well with the technology to help with instruction. Very helpful - I am very much appreciative of the information that is shared. Thanks.
I found Mark to be very knowledgeable and understanding in his teaching methods. It did not take a lot of overhead time for he can get up to speed.
Mark does an excellent job!! He is patient and knowledgeable. He can translate the pertinent facts easily. He is an awesome tutor and resource to be tapped!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
