Currently, I am a freelance journalist with exceptional writing and editing skills. Additionally, I have proven research skills, having written Ph.D. and master's theses and worked on various academic research projects. I can assist anyone working in almost any field to put together a research project or paper.

I was an instructor of anthropology and archaeology classes at the college level for over 25 years. The courses I taught included Old and New World Archaeology, human evolution, cultural anthropology, archaeological theory and a variety of specialty classes, such as Human Impact on the Environment, Archaeological Palynology, the Anthropology of Religion and the Anthropology of Sport.

I am a fluent Spanish speaker with special expertise in Mexican history, art and archaeology. I lived in Mexico for over four years and continued to visit as an instructor in a study abroad summer program. While living in Mexico, I taught English as a Foreign Language at the University of Guanajuato and studied archaeology at the doctoral level at the Autonomous University of Mexico in Mexico City. I briefly taught Spanish to middle school students in Phoenix, Arizona.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Anthropology

I received a Ph.D. in anthropology from Arizona State University in 2012, and a master's in interdisciplinary studies from Oregon State University in 1987, which included concentrations in archaeology and cultural anthropology.

I was an instructor in anthropology in the Maricopa Community College District since 1991. I have given classes in cultural anthropology, old world archaeology, new world archaeology, archaeological method and theory, environmental anthropology, the anthropology of sport, the anthropology of religion and human evolution.

I have developed online courses in old world archaeology, new world archaeology, and Hispanic heritage in the Southwest, all of which include lecture material that I wrote. These courses went through an assessment and approval by a Quality Matters team. I am also a trained and certified Quality Matters reviewer.

Archaeology

I am fully qualified as a tutor in archaeology as I have a Ph.D. in Anthropology with an Archaeology focus from Arizona State University and a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Oregon State University for which Archaeology was one of my areas of specialization. I also pursued doctoral-level studies in Archaeology at the Institute for Anthropological Investigations at Mexico City's National Autonomous University in 1989/1990.

I have had many experiences working on archaeological research projects doing fieldwork in Pennsylvania, Oregon, Arizona and in Mexico (Teotihuacan). I have been employed as an archaeologist by the U.S. Forest Service, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and archaeological consulting firms. I have also been a writer and editor for archaeological publications at the Athena Review and for Archaeological Consulting Services in Tempe, Arizona.

I have taught courses in archaeology at several campuses of the Maricopa County Community College District and at Arizona State University for more than twenty years. The courses I have taught covered a large range of subject matters within the discipline, including: Survey of Old World Archaeology, Survey of New World Archaeology, Mesoamerican Archaeology, Southwestern Archaeology, Palaeolithic Archaeology, Archaeological Methods, Human Origins, Human Environmental Impact, and Archaeological Palynology.
