Hello,

I am a graduate student in mathematics at Arizona State University, having graduated last May with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics. In my training I have accrued several semesters of proof writing and subjects related to mathematics. I have also tutored for two years. Currently I am a tutor as Rio Salado College.

As to my approach to tutoring, more often than not mathematics is presented to students in a vacuum without any motivation as to why they are being asked to learn these skills or tasks. Often my approach is to help students understand the application of such skills. I am also a firm believer that some things, such as factoring of polynomials, integration, and differentiation require repetition to fully understand. As a result I usually attempt to get the students to do more examples than they are assigned in class. I have even been known to ask students to generate their own examples and check their solutions.

I do not meet with minors unless a parent is present. When tutoring in a pupil's home, I prefer to work in a dining room or other public area of the house. If not in the pupil's home, I usually meet students in a library.

I have studied astrophysics for ten years. First in high school, working with Professors at Arizona State University, moving on to studying for an Undergraduate degree. While I moved on from studying astrophysics, I am still an avid amateur astronomer.

C was my first language in high school. I have also had 1 semester of formal training in scientific programming in C.

I have had 3 semesters of formal instruction in C++. Two in high school, one in college.

I have a bachelors degree in mathematics which means that I have passed all three Calculus courses. Along with Real Analysis, a calculus proofs course. I have also had one graduate level real analysis course, and I have been tutoring students in calculus for 3 years.

I have received a bachelor's degree from Arizona State University in Mathematics and I am currently in the PhD program for Mathematics. I have 2 years of experience as a tutor, specifically in the areas of Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus.

I have had 3 semesters of formal training in Java, along with tutoring students in Java. I also have formal training in C/C++ and C#.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Arizona State University, one semester of linear algebra and one semester of graduate algebra specifically dealing with advanced topics in linear algebra.

I have been using Linux since I was 15 years old. I cut my teeth on Redhat 5.2. I moved on to Debian when I went off to college. I dabbled in using SuSE, Fedora, and Ubuntu. I currently run Linux Mint on my laptop. I also have one Ubuntu virtual machine serve on my home network. Finally my desktop has a Mint Virtual Machine using Virtualbox.

I have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from ASU. In order to attain this I needed to take several semesters of logic intensive course work. I have two semesters of course work in formal logic as well.

With a bachelor's degree in mathematics, I have the qualifications in the state of Arizona to teach mathematics, if I were to go through the certification process. However, I have further been tutoring students for two years in this area. Also, my area of focus in my PhD has required me to take advanced courses in both Algebra and Calculus.
