Hi there! My name is Tyler and I love two things: piano
. For me, these two things often go hand-in-hand, since my favorite pianist happens to be Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. I became interested in all things Russian as I studied Rachmaninoff's music
and life. This interest led me to pursue three years of Russian studies at Utah Valley University, where I became familiar with the language
, customs and history
of this fascinating country. UVU was in the process of adding an official Russian minor with a four-year degree when I left, so their program was very comprehensive. Beginning Russian lessons with me would cover the alphabet, constructing sentences, basic conversation and vocabulary
and some Russian culture. Continuing the lessons would add more vocabulary, more advanced conversation and in-depth cultural studies. Lessons would include multi-media presentations, worksheets, and other education boosting activities.
If you choose to study piano with me, I can tutor beginning and beginning/intermediate students. Besides the basics of course, (how to read music, timing, familiarity with the keyboard, etc), lessons would have a strong classical base, with musical theory, exercises and pieces selected to optimize learning toward an ultimately classical repertoire. If you can play the classical masters, you can play anything! Of course, you would let me know what your musical goals are, and we can tailor a lesson plan specifically for you.
I am a firm believer in learning for a lifetime. I will never stop learning, and I encourage anyone of any age to pursue their passions. If you are 8 or 80, it is never too late to learn a new language, or to play the piano. I can help you get started.
