Hi there! My name is Tyler and I love two things: piano and Russian. For me, these two things often go hand-in-hand, since my favorite pianist happens to be Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. I became interested in all things Russian as I studied Rachmaninoff's music and life. This interest led me to pursue three years of Russian studies at Utah Valley University, where I became familiar with the language, customs and history of this fascinating country. UVU was in the process of adding an official Russian minor with a four-year degree when I left, so their program was very comprehensive. Beginning Russian lessons with me would cover the alphabet, constructing sentences, basic conversation and vocabulary and some Russian culture. Continuing the lessons would add more vocabulary, more advanced conversation and in-depth cultural studies. Lessons would include multi-media presentations, worksheets, and other education boosting activities.
If you choose to study piano with me, I can tutor beginning and beginning/intermediate students. Besides the basics of course, (how to read music, timing, familiarity with the keyboard, etc), lessons would have a strong classical base, with musical theory, exercises and pieces selected to optimize learning toward an ultimately classical repertoire. If you can play the classical masters, you can play anything! Of course, you would let me know what your musical goals are, and we can tailor a lesson plan specifically for you.
I am a firm believer in learning for a lifetime. I will never stop learning, and I encourage anyone of any age to pursue their passions. If you are 8 or 80, it is never too late to learn a new language, or to play the piano. I can help you get started.
I've worked in photography for the past 4 years. I have an Associates Degree in Art with most of my electives in Photography. I have worked underwater subjects for local businesses, as well as portraits, wildlife, and landscape photography.
I am qualified to teach beginning and intermediate piano because I have studied piano for the past 7 years. I can play some of the more difficult pieces in piano literature. I have made an in-depth personal study of theory and composition as well as improvisation. Early this year, I performed with Witness Music, a foundation dedicated to performing religious music at Abravanel Hall in Utah. I am currently working on a repertoire which would allow me to apply to several top music schools around the country.
I studied Russian for two years at Utah Valley University before obtaining my Associates of Art and moving to Arizona. Although I am not fluent in the language, I do have a firm grasp on grammar, culture, and basic directions. I spend 30 minutes to 1 hour each day studying vocabulary and grammar, as well as reading books in Russian, as well as translating texts from Russian to English. I am qualified to teach the basics at this time, and hope to enroll in one of the local Universities in a Russian Major and obtain a degree which would allow me to obtain fluency in the language.
