I am currently a Research Scientist at ASU's Center for Biological Physics. My experience in teaching/tutoring ranges from Chemistry to Mathematics to Physics and Physical Science with some particular expertise in computer programming. I have taught and tutored in most lower level college/university Physics and Chemistry courses and have been working with Mathematics and Computer Programming for about 20 years. I have also been a private tutor for about 10 years and really enjoy trying to make Math and Science simple and understandable. I believe that the understanding of these topics is a joint responsibility from both the teacher and the student; the teacher being the 'expert' that is supposed to be able to figure out how to explain the topic so that the student is able to understand, and the student needs to be able to practice and become well versed.
I absolutely love teaching. Especially, those 'Aha!' moments when students get it. I always strive for performance improvement and actually understanding rather than just understanding how to solve particular problems and believe that teaching someone about a subject is facilitated learning. That is, even though it is a cliche, teaching someone to fish is far more beneficial than just giving them a fish.
