Greetings and thank you for checking out my page on WyzAnt!
I am a young, fun and vibrant teacher in downtown Phoenix. Originally from the mid-west (Iowa) but am very happy to be in the Valley and am going on my second year here. I have my undergrad degree in History from the University of Iowa, a B.A. in Social Studies Education (5-12), and am currently working on my masters in k-12 Special Ed.
While in college, I volunteered at the American Mentor Program for three years, an after school tutoring program for reading and writing, as well as at a coffee shop to simply spend time with persons who have a variety of disabilities.
This past year, I began teaching in an contained elementary special ed class. It was a very successful and fun year.
My teaching style is very hands on and proactive. I reiterate material in a number of different ways so learners are taking in and processing information at their full potential. Teaching special ed has strengthened my skills in finding a WIDE ARRAY of techniques to personally suit a students learning ability and needs. We all take in information differently, it is my job to make you the best learner you can be.
Mainstream Elementary and Middle School, Emotional Disabilities, Autism, Down Syndrome, and anything with History and anything social studies, are my specialties.
