I am a certified math teacher, but more importantly have been tutoring students since 1987. I am eager to work with struggling students and give them the basic building blocks upon which to master the material. For many students the difficulty is understanding the language of math along with the bigger picture of how this particular material fits in with his/her life.
For example many students do not realize that while one text may discuss (for algebra) "input" and "output"; other texts use the terms "domain" and "range." As a result, when a student moves from one to the other, their confusion is understandable. Many students and parents often do not understand how Algebra I studies linear relations while Algebra II studies the curves. Geometry develops logical thought and is an important class for all students planning to attend college.
Many of my students return to me when faced with a new teacher or topic. I wish to aid your student in his or her success of mathematics.
