English

I am certified and highly qualified to teach English grades in 7-12. I have ten years of teaching English experience in middle school and five years of teaching English in high school.

ESL/ESOL

I have 15 years of experience teaching English to second language learners. I have an MEd in Bilingual Education and I am certified and highly qualified to teach English and Spanish. I also have an endorsement in Bilingual Ed. and SIOP.

Photography

I have taken several photography courses at two different universities (U of I and NAU). I have worked as a professional photographer at several publications including newspapers and magazines in the Chicago and Phoenix area. I also have worked in commercial portrait studios as well as doing weddings and promotional photography. In addition I have worked as a photographer for two universities (U of I and NAU). I have taught high school photography and served as yearbook and newspaper advisor at several schools where I taught.

Spanish

I am a native Spanish speaker who was raised in a bilingual home. I have a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and a Master's degree in Bilingual Education. I lived in Spain and studied at the University of Barcelona. I also taught Spanish for four years in public and private schools in Arizona and Montana.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
