That methodology has helped hundreds of students develop organized learning methodology to improve their skills. When teaching English reading to Spanish speakers in Mexico, it was imperative that the material being used hold the students interest. To that end, I use material that I am certain the student will have some knowledge of so it can spark some conversation to follow. The point being that conveying thought through written material can be retained by conversation that follows -- perhaps even in a debating format.
My study skills teaching experience covers four years of teaching students how to study English, improve math skills, proofread their writing, make presentations, use of MicroSoft programs, and preparation for acceptance exams.
My ability to have organized, efficient study skills of my own enabled me to obtain a Master's degree with distinction.

During my tenure in Mexico teaching English as a foreign language to groups of six I also tutored young persons one-on-one who wished to attend colleges in the USA.
My tutored students were particularly challenged considering the ETS TOEFL workbook has a strenuous approach to receptive and productive skills in English at an academic level rather than only a conversational level. In addition I stressed pronunciation at the vowel level using a list of 200 difficult words I had prepared from my ESL classes. That list was focused on decreasing the tendency for a Spanish speaking student to have a deep Spanish accent that pronounced cognates in a Spanish manner.
When completing three months of classes those tutored had improved their English skills to the level capable of being accepted in an American college.
