English,Writing and American History Specialist

I have a Associates Degree from Concordia University. My major was English with emphasis in Secondary Education. I have a great love of the English, language, Grammar and Spelling. Without these basics in place, no child can succeed and I am a big History buff. Ever since I was a child, I researched, studied, did extra-curricular projects in American History-especially the Civil War era. I am a firm believer that we do not know where we are going if we don't know where we came from. I have read and instructed my own children and to my children's friends, Sunday School, and my children's school book fairs. I believe that to read to children and getting them actually interested in history will help get interested in improving spelling and grammar. I have found that patience and caring will help them succeed along with using the children's prior knowledge will help them in understanding the subject matter.

I have experience in helping students in study skills by using main idea and time management. I have experience in keeping students on track by using their own schema knowledge and using students' prior knowledge. This is an important learning skill for students.
