Well hey there! My name is Michael and I specialize in digital media and animation. I've been using computers and what have you ever since I was a little kid and over the years I've built up a large amount of computer
related skill-sets. My talents range from digital animation to graphic design, web design
, illustration, digital painting
, and 3d modeling.
I went to school at Boston University for web design and eventually transferred to the Art
Institute of Phoenix to study Media Arts & Animation. During my time at AiPX, I had a tendency to help my fellow students learn parts of the curriculum they were stumped with. I've always had a desire to help teach people so really AiPX just gave me a way to act
on that desire. I graduated from AiPX with a GPA of 3.7 and was inducted into the Alpha Beta Kappa Honors Society for my academic excellence. After graduation I worked at a video game company by the name of Bloodleaf Studios and worked my way up to a lead artist position within only a few months.
When it comes to tutoring, I prefer doing hands-on exercises with the student using the programs involved with the subject. I feel the best way to learn about a creative process, whether digital or traditional, is to practice it physically as that builds a kind of muscle memory within your mind on how the process works in relation to your needs. It also helps establish for the student the idea that the creative process is essentially a type of problem solving. Where other types of problem solving have a stricter methodology, however, the creative process allows for more flexibility and hands-on practice gets the student to think more flexibly.
With a strong passion in my creative fields and an innate love for teaching people, I feel I would be a great tutor for whatever the circumstance.
