How do you write a citation for a paper?

I'm not understanding on how to write one.

Kathleen's Answer:

Now Alyson, the answer to this is simple. I would first recommend finding out which style of citation your teacher wants you to use. Then, I would recommend asking your teacher for help or a worksheet pertaining to that type of citation. You could also ask your school or public library librarians for aide. If nothing else I would look it up online. Here are some links for two different types of citation.

What are some tips for coming up with a good thesis for a paper?

I need to come up with a paper, what are some tips for thinking of a thesis?

Kathleen's Answer:

Make your thesis something inspiring for you and your peers. If you write about something you enjoy it'll make the process easier for you. Once you decide on say 4 or 5 ideas then research them online through an academic database. If you find support then go for it. Now of course if your writing an essay that does not require research to support your thesis that is another matter. Now class subject does matter. It does limit your topic ideas. So once you know what subject it has to be under, make your thesis fun and interesting. I hope that helps!

help with algebra

I need to see this simplifyed  7x+6=4x+27

Asked by Sandra from Harrisburg, PA

Kathleen's Answer:

Okay Sandra, there is an easy way to do this.

First we look for the common factors. So in 7x + 6 = 4x + 27 the “x” on either side are the same. So we need to put them together.

This should make our problem look like this:
7x + 6 = 4x + 27
-4x       -4x
3x + 6 = 27

Now that we have the “x” together, we need to look for the next common factors. Our common factors are then our numbers without x. So now (like before) we need to combine them.

So our problem should now become this:
3x + 6 = 27
     -6    -6
3x = 21

Now the next step is to find x. So we divide by 3 on either side.

Our solution should be:
3x = 21
/3    /3
X = 7

So thus our solution is x=7.

I hope that helped!
