A student is like a kaleidoscope. They are made up of ever-changing and unique pieces. When brought together, however, it creates a beautiful child. A student brings with him or her a different background, life experience and educational success and weakness.
It is the Tutor's responsibility to shake that metaphorical kaleidoscope, and strive to work as part of the educational team to blend all these factors into a cohesive and safe whole. As a tutor, I believe in providing the student reinforcement, enrichment, and practice in whatever area of education they need. Plus, when they are with me, he/she can feel free to their personality in creative and unique ways.
I am a fully-certified teacher with the state of Arizona. I have been working with children my whole life, and spent ten years at a wonderful charter school. I taught 4th/5th grade in all subjects as well as one year of Junior High Writing. I am especially successful in helping students with Language Arts skills including; reading fluency and comprehension, literature studies, grammar, writing, and spelling/vocabulary.
As a tutor, I hold each student accountable for coming to the session prepared to continue learning outside of school and be able to reflect on their experiences in order to increase growth. I encourage Critical Thinking and Intrinsic Motivation.
