Hi, my name is Alex and I am 23 years old. I am a recent graduate of Illinois State University in Normal, IL. I earned my Bachelor Degree in Exercise Science from the Department of Kinesiology and Recreation. My curriculum was very math and science based and those are my areas of proficiency. My cumulative and major GPA's were 3.4. I coach football at a local high school and also played college baseball for 2 years, so I can give sport technique and strategy lessons if desirable as well as exercise instruction. I have experience in strength and conditioning as well as speed and agility instruction with athletes as young as 6 all the way to Division 1 players of various sports.
My philosophy in teaching is to build a solid foundation of knowledge through breaking down a particular subject and finding the specific causes of confusion for the student. It is also very important to explain what their teachers will expect from them on tests and homework. I will give test taking strategies and help them work their way through tests with efficiency to control some of the anxiety. I understand that all teaching techniques do not work for all students and I am willing and able to adjust appropriately. I have a passion for working with others and helping them reach their individual goals and potential in school, sport, and life. I find it very rewarding when students see improvement and gain a new found confidence in themselves. I would like an opportunity to show you!
Thank you very much for your consideration.
