I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from California State University East Bay. I have been a substitute teacher in California for grades 1-6, and also spent 23 years in the corporate world with heavy experience in training diverse groups of people. I've had extensive experience in teaching Junior Achievement classes in the Elementary grades. I have had over 30 years of experience teaching Sunday School classes, as well.
I have always had both a love of reading and of working with children and would be very excited to help your child succeed with confidence in his/her academic life. I approach teaching in an organized manner to allow basic concepts and skills to be learned and then follow with additional building blocks. I also believe in making learning FUN! Where appropriate, I will tie lesson material and examples in with other subjects your child is currently studying to promote a cohesive path in their academic life. Establishing a relaxed environment and strong personal comfort level for the student is a priority. Your child and I will get to know each other and together, will set goals based on your child's learning style.
