I am an experienced retired teacher having taught all levels from kindergarten through college. I hold the following degrees: Master of Music degree from Yale University and Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Arizona in Performance. I studied many Spanish classes also including two summers in Guadalajara, Mexico. I attended master classes with Zara Nelsova and Lorne Monroe, former principal cellist of the New York Philharmonic.
I taught string orchestra at Pueblo high school, Tucson; Scottsdale elementary and middle school groups and Washington School District elementary school classes, Phoenix area; also general music. I taught beginning Spanish to K-2 classes in the Paradise Valley Unified School District.
I am an experienced symphony and chamber music cellist, with the Denver Symphony, State of Mexico Symphony, Tucson Symphony, Symphony of the West Valley, Sun Cities and presently Scottsdale Arts Orchestra and ProMusica Arizona. I was a former cellist with String Sounds in Phoenix for five years; performed in many schools, libraries and other areas of Arizona as a member of the string quartet.
I presently teach private cello and violin. I am always considerate of individual differences among students. I work to develop strengths out of weak areas with musicality as a goal. I have had successful students in Regional and All-State orchestra groups.
