As a student, I have always excelled in math and averaged A's through Calculus level math. I have been highly sought by students who are enrolled in algebra level college courses because of my deep understanding of the subject and my ability to break math down on a level that makes it easy to understand. I have been told I am a great tutor, make math fun, and have greatly improved the student's confidence level with math. I take great pride in helping students see marked, immediate improvement in class and in long term retention of material.
As a tutor, I exercise great patience with my students which is critical for success. When problem solving, I like to have my students write out the solution process for the first few questions in each new section carefully and explain to me what they are doing as they are doing it to ensure that they are confident in the procedure and truly understand how to solve each problem. Once the student feels confident with what they have learned, I like to tie in the concepts mastered to all other applicable topics covered so that the student can understand the big picture of mathematics.
