Hi there! I'm an adjunct geology professor at Mesa Community College. I have a Master's degree in geology from Arizona State University. My Bachelor's degree is in both biology and geology, from the University of Western Ontario. In addition to my experience teaching both lectures and labs at the community college level, I have tutoring experience in science, math, test preparation, and English. My educational background has given me excellent language and grammar skills, as well as a strong foundation in math and science. I love being able to help a student understand a subject with which they have previously struggled. I have tutored students in most math and science courses, and I am comfortable with all grade levels, from elementary school to college.
My teaching style varies according to the individual needs of the student. My main goal is to help the student become enthusiastic about the specific subject or activity, and confident in their ability to interpret was a question is actually asking. I am very flexible, and will tailor the curriculum and evaluation methods based on discussions with the student. If desired by either the student and/or parent, I can provide additional practice resources to help strengthen concepts covered in our tutoring sessions. Whenever possible, I am available to my students via email or text if they have a problem with their homework that I can help them solve.
I am also open to do tutoring online via Skype or a similar program in certain situations, so feel free to ask! If you need last minute help for a test or exam I will do my best to accommodate you, however please be aware that I may charge an increased rate depending on the circumstances.
I think that tutoring can be a mutual rewarding experience, and I look forward to helping students excel!
