Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Public Speaking

While attending Kansas State University, I was an active member of the Public Speaking team. I was also quite active with my local High School team as a participant. My informative speech and presentation of the same was given high marks both at tournaments and at a national level.

Being a teacher in the classroom, I am constantly speaking publicly regarding topics as broad as American history to discussing works of literature. As a guest teacher, the demands can range from speaking about how to add or subtract unlike fractions to an in-depth discussion of literary works like The Scarlet Letter or Frog and Toad are friends.

Theatre

I graduated from Kansas State University with a B.S. degree in Speech and Theater. I have been in productions of William Shakespeare,Eugene O'Neill, Tom Stoppard, and many others. I have worked backstage in make-up and have directed a full length production for civic theater.

While living in California, I was employed with the local newspaper as their theater critic and reviewed numerous playse including Jekyll & Hyde, The Who's Tommy, An Inspector Calls, and M. Butterfly.
