I love teaching. But, recently retired from 40 years of teaching and administration. Thirteen of those teaching years were at a boarding school where I was dorm parent where the evenings were often spent tutoring math and science.
My joy is one-on-one teaching. I was a driver’s ed instructor for a period and it was actually one of the most rewarding type of teaching I did. Watching the students individual skills develop and the joy when they are able to do things on their own. I tutor much the same way not only helping them with the content and concepts they are supposed to learn and “getting that homework done” but also help them learn how to learn the material on their own.
Included in all my tutoring and teaching are strategies of organizing, planning, seeing the “big picture” then looking at the details. They learn to use the book they use as well as other resources to support and learn what they are studying.
I have worked in multiple cultures and countries (Botswana, India, Bangladesh, Germany, Samoa) and classroom settings from dirt floor classrooms to the latest high tech school. I am very adaptive to any situation and look forward to helping you help your son or daughter with what they may be struggling with and trying to improve.
