Hello and thank you for looking at my page! My name is Kane and I am a chemical engineer turned student pilot with a knack for taking difficult concepts, breaking them down, and explaining them in ways that make sense. Math and science are all about logic and standards, and once you understand the concepts behind them, learning them becomes much easier. This is what I focus on - teaching concepts! It's much more important than just learning the skills and techniques to pass a test. Plus, math and science are ongoing, so it's best to get a thorough understanding of the concepts that give you problems as soon as they come up, and I can help!
I hold a Master of Engineering degree in chemical engineering (3.96/4.0 undergraduate and 3.9/4.0 graduate GPA), a testament to my understanding of math, chemistry, and even difficult engineering material. My previous tutoring experience has been mostly informal, coming primarily within the same school systems that I have attended; however, my methods of teaching must be effective, as students have come to me with questions from sixth-grade math all the way up to differential equations from juniors in college. A student once declared that if it hadn't been for me, he wouldn't have made it through engineering school!
On a personal level, I have a calm and focused attitude and work very well with people one-on-one. We'll work together to understand concepts and apply them to problems, particularly examples and material that you are actually using in class. If you already know or can get an idea of the specific topics that you'd like help with, great! Let me know so that I can be ready to give you the help you need. Have more of a general sense that something doesn't quite click? Want someone to go through things with you and try to find out why? No problem! What matters to me is that you feel that I've been helpful.
Please don't hesitate to contact me! I have descriptions of some of the topics I can cover in my profile here, but they may not be all-inclusive; if you're wondering whether I can help you with something else, just ask and I'll see what I can do! Hope to hear from you soon!
