I believe in developing children who excel socially. My aim is to shift students' perceptions to be more focused on the interests of others, and society in general, and less focused on their own self-interests. Students who are able to adapt to this type of thinking live in a state of perpetual generosity, curiosity, positivity, and openness to limitless possibilities. I believe in developing children who excel academically. The aspiration of academic excellence is not the learning of content itself, but the application and the blending of the content and its concepts. The ability to use knowledge gained through instruction in order to solve problems innovatively is more valuable than the memorization of facts. By utilizing real life examples, I can demonstrate how academic knowledge can be employed in a more meaningful approach to life’s challenges. This will reveal to students how knowledge, and its relevance, impacts not only themselves but the potential of how they impact others. In addition, this will encourage students to be hungry for more knowledge, motivating them to consistently seek the right questions and dare to think differently.I believe in developing children who excel intrinsically. I am fueled by my desire to implement learning opportunities where students are the facilitators of their own self-discovery and learning takes place with a purpose. Goal oriented practices that are both meaningful and applicable ensure that students buy into their schooling. I believe that content areas are not isolated, but rather, they exist in a symbiotic relationship where one idea supports and stimulates the birth of another. All of this together creates a student body that is self-sufficient, accountable for their own actions, and aware of the interlocking issues that make our world view. Finally, this pedagogy promotes students who will be able to thrive in a global economy, and be able to adapt to an ever growing technological society where digital advances multiply exponentially over time. I have a B.A.E. in Diversity in Language and Learning with an E.S.L. endorsement. I also have three years teaching experience at a bilingual school (English/Japanese). What is my vision and goal? My vision represents all I want my students to accomplish in and beyond this school year so they are better equipped to earn outstanding academic and life opportunities.“What’s the most meaningful and lasting impact I can accomplish with my students this year?” My Big Goals are the outcomes my students and I strive to achieve that represent concrete progress towards our vision. They are the bold, measurable, and public declaration of what my students will achieve this school year in pursuit of our vision. They include personal and academic goals. I'll need to learn about my school and community, and get to know my students’ strengths and areas for growth, and their hopes, dreams and aspirations. Once I have this vision, I'll do whatever it takes this to invest my students in that vision and help them achieve it.In the past, I've found that there are four main inputs that are helpful in crafting vision and goals. Academic Achievement: What type of rigorous academic growth is most important for my students make? Long Term Traits and Mindsets: What habits, mindsets and personal beliefs, if present, will equip my students to excel in my class and beyond? Pathways to Opportunity: What doors, if opened, will give my students access to the opportunities they deserve? Are there key tests that will open doors? Can I position my students to get into top middle schools, high schools, or position them to get into college? Are there other pathways to success that I can help them gain access to? Student Interests and Aspirations: How can my goal help my students reach their personal aspirations? How can it leverage their strengths and interests as a motivating factor, while also ensuring they have expanded opportunity should their aspirations grow or change?
