My name is Jonathan E., and I have been a teacher my entire life. I have spent over twenty years inside a classroom and I enjoy helping others succeed. When I was in college I learned a disturbing trend, which is we as Americans take our education for granted. Whether we admit it or not our education is quite costly. Be it our time or the financial burden, our education has a hefty price tag. Therefore I say, “Why not take advantage of it!”
I graduated the United States Military Academy, West Point Class of 2004. Unlike other universities West Point operates under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and our professors fell under the same command structure as the cadets. Our Dean was a one-star Brigadier General. Under his authority he ordered his professors to be on call for the cadets whenever we needed. The process is still known as Additional Instruction (AI).
Every cadet is required to take certain corps courses, and some of these classes can be extremely difficult. My first biggest challenge came my second year when I took 2-semesters of required physics. I had never taken physics class before, and West Point physics is not easy. Had it not been for AI I would not have passed physics, nor would I have graduated.
I believe we are all responsible for our own education, whether it be inside a classroom or otherwise. By seeking a tutor in your troubled area you are already making the most important decision. I know it is tough asking for help, but you are so much the better for doing so. I look forward to your requests and helping you achieve the level of scholarly satisfaction you deserve. I plan to keep learning something new everyday until the day I die, and then three days after that.
