Hi! I am so excited to start sharing my love of literature, writing, history, and religion with others. I currently teach Language Arts at the middle school level. In addition, I sponsor my school's chapter of National Junior Honor Society and Glee Club. I truly love watching my students use their imagination and create amazing pieces of work. I believe that it is important to meet with my students one on one to determine their strengths and weaknesses. Together we can create a plan to build upon those strengths and minimize weaknesses. I believe that laughter and humor are both integral to the learning process and I recognize that all students learn in varied ways. My job is to identify how your student learns best.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Classics

I have taught many of the literary classics (The Iliad, The Odyssey, many of Shakespeare's plays). In addition, my degree is in English, with minors in Religious Studies and History, which provided me with a strong foundation in the major works of the literary canon.

Religion

I am qualified to teach religion because I have a minor in religious studies. As an English major, I recognized the importance of taking courses on religion because of the strong influence religion played on many early works of literature from England and the European continent. My particular emphasis was on religion in England during the Renaissance and Reformation.

Study Skills

I have worked at my school's homework club for the last seven years. I have worked one on one with students to determine each one's study routine, and together we have worked to refine study skills. Additionally, in my classroom, I teach my students various strategies they can use to study for tests.
