I am a graduate math student. I have tutored algebra since the 1970s. I love to work with high school students and college freshmen and sophomores. I bring patience and enthusiasm to tutoring.

C

I received an A in my college C/C++ class and in more advanced computer science classes such as algorithms and operating systems. I have worked as a programmer in C and assembler and written high level programs in C++. I love to tutor and bring patience and enthusiasm to my teaching.

C++

I received an A in my college C/C++ course and in more advanced courses that used C++ such as algorithms and software design. I have written programs in C++ professionally on my own and as part of a team. I love to program and to reach. I bring patience and enthusiasm to tutoring.

General Computer

In addition to years of experience as a computer user, I have a background in supporting small businesses. I have set up a servers and workstations for pet sitting, insurance and non-profit organizations including support for client billing, accounting and communication. I have worked with both Windows and Linux on the server side and Windows and OSX on the client side.

I also maintain a wiki for a non-profit organization and publish a podcast.

I am familiar with the popular office software and can program in Ruby, Java, C, C++ and ObjC.

Macintosh

I have been a Macintosh user since the 512K model came out and have used Macs both professionally and as an enthusiastic hobbyist. At one time, I had the most popular Mac program on CompuServe and I wrote the Macintosh drivers for a popular line of peripherals.

I am a frequent presenter at the Arizona Macintosh Users Group.

I bring patience and enthusiasm to tutoring. I look forward to learning with you.

Pascal

I have written Pascal programs professionally since the early 1970s, when I worked on a large shipping model for petroleum imports to the US west coast ports. When I started programing, Pascal was a mainframe and minicomputer language, but I followed the transition to personal computers and became familiar with with Turbo Pascal, LightSpeed Pascal and Delphi.

I bring patience and enthusiasm to tutoring and I love to teach.

Prealgebra

I am a graduate student in math. I have been tutoring since the 1970s and used math my whole professional life. I love to teach and bring patience and enthusiasm. I try hard to make math fun for my students.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
