I studied Mandarin as part of my language study for University and lived in Taiwan for 2 years.
I have lived in China and Taiwan, for study, travel and work.
With Mandarin study I can help you with language conversation and important cultural and historical subtleties that are difficult to capture in a text based study.
While I was in Taiwan I taught ages 3 to 13 ESL.
It was a heartwarming and interactive experience which helped me to develop a calm patience and understanding for different kinds of learners and learners that are just acquiring a new language. In this time I also helped develop lesson plans and resources to aid in student development and knowledge acquisition.
This is helpful when I work with people wishing to learn Mandarin and people who are learning English.
After I returned from Taiwan I taught in a developmental preschool. I worked with students on the spectrum, and of a variety of language a learning backgrounds.
I have also taught 4th and 5th grade special needs students in reading and math.
Throughout my University experience, I tutored elementary students of all grades and backgrounds in a fun one-on-one environment.
