My name is Hosanna, I am a writer, performing artist, speaker, and teacher from California, currently residing in Arizona.
I have a BA in English Lit., with an emphasis in Creative Writing.
In High School I spent 3 years in Drama, including Improv, Script-writing, & Acting.
In college I spent 2 years as Editor on my university's newspaper.
I also spent 2 years in college as the founder & director of a writing/performing arts team.
I have spent time teaching English in Beijing, China, and intended on being a full-time teacher post-college, but alas, the doors opened for a career in writing and performing stories, and I've had the opportunity to travel the country as a freelance writer, performer, speaker, and teacher for almost two years now.
My teaching philosophy is that learning the material is secondary to learning how to be a great learner-- discovering how we learn, how we think, and how we process new information is what is key. Memorizing information isn't enough-- we need learning skills that will last! We all learn at different speeds and through different ways. Sometimes, we'll have to get creative. But what is more important than the material is developing a learning mentality that can observe, retain, and apply the information. Through these developments, the materials will be learned in a more effective way.
