With my extensive working experience serving as teaching assistant, the multiple pedagogical theories and methods acquired at OSU, and the enthusiasm of helping lower grade and younger kids to develop a broad view of the world, I am uniquely qualified to cooperatively teach and assist in the lower grade classrooms.
As you look at my credentials, you will find that my experience offers flexibility for your staffing strategies. I believe that it is important to be a caring teacher who understands the different learning styles and strengths that students bring to the classroom and respects diverse cultural background. Since June of 2011, I was able to secure multiple teaching assistantships. I served as a teaching assistant at a weekend school in Columbus: Ohio Contemporary Chinese School (OCCS). At OCCS, I sometimes serve as a teaching assistant in a "heritage" Class A class with 20 Chinese-American children ranging from 6 to 8 years old. I also help developing and preparing class materials for Chinese classes with a class size of 20 students comprised of US middle and high school students as well as adult students. I sometimes teach the class as a substitute teacher. I designed some interesting games and performances, such as roleplay and puzzle sentences, in order to motivate interests in learning Chinese for extrovert learners. For introvert learners, I used the cooperative learning activities to team up these students with those who are extroverted. I also assist the lead teacher to provide special needs for students who need extra instructions. I have a great passion and am patient in teaching these students owing to their vigor of learning Chinese. I also have some tutor experiences with the little kids and elementary students. I always design different teaching methods for them based on their language proficiency levels and specific needs.
