We contacted Wayne to help my daughter with an online trigonometry course she needed to complete within a short period of time for her high school graduation requirement. He got her up to speed in two sessions, and she just recently completed her online final and passed the class! Wayne is very knowledgeable and effectively explained the concepts in a way that helped her understand enough to proceed with the remaining assignments and quizzes on her own. He was extremely understanding of the situation and willing to accommodate her schedule. I will certainly recommend him to others. Thank you, Wayne!
We can always contact Wayne right away when we need Physics tutoring for our daughter. He returns the calls or emails fast and also tries to work with us regarding times and location. He is patient, he cares about the student needs and looks for different ways to help her understand. Our daughter's grades and her understanding of Physics has improved a lot. We definitely recommend him.
Wayne is a very patient and effective tutor who devotes his time to understand the needs of the person being tutored. Then he develops a study plan appropriate to individual needs. I highly recommend this very knowledgeable tutor.
My son (a HS junior) has always been "highly achieving" in math and has been in gifted programs since the third grade. During his second semester of Calculus, we noticed he was starting to struggle a bit, not scoring as well on quizzes, tests and homework grades.
In doing an internet search for tutors, we found Wayne at WyzAnt Tutoring. I sent an email to Wayne on a Friday afternoon and within an hour he had contacted me via email, then phone and we had sessions set up to begin the following Monday.
My son was NOT on board about having a tutor and told us he was just "lazy" and that's why his grade was falling off. Wayne has been working with my son for 5 weeks now, his grade has improved, he feels more confident about the calculus concepts and his problem solving skills. In fact, after this week's session my son said, "I had a great tutoring session and I'm really GLAD that you found a tutor for me." He feels that he's been able to "get" the advanced concepts MUCH faster than in class or on his own! Money well spent!!
I would highly recommend Wayne. He is prompt, courteous, knowledgeable AND knows how to get through to even kids who may be resistant to admitting they need help!!
PS: Even our "high strung" dogs like him.
Wayne helped my son with his Algebra 3-4 homework. He understood the subject matter and was able to explain it clearly. Wayne identified one of my son's weaknesses, that he is able to do the math in his head but doesn't show his work. Wayne went over how to show all of the steps of the solution, and how to write out the formulas, so that credit for homework and tests could be obtained.
I contacted Wayne three months ago when I was looking for a math tutor for my high school freshman. He worked with my son over Christmas break in order to ensure he understood all of the math concepts for the class he was taking. In addition, to keep my son interested he introduced physics, calculus and a number of other topics to help my son understand what he was teaching.
My son enjoys working with Wayne so much that he asks for me to have him come and tutor him before a test or project. He is very easy to reach, responds quickly to questions and is extremely knowledgeable. He has a very clear way to explain even very complex math problems. If you need help with math, he is amazing!
After a 10+ year break from college (and 17 years after my last college algebra class), I went back and needed to take calculus. Due to the length of time since my last class, I needed to pass a placement test to enroll in it. I worked with Wayne from May to January, reviewing elementary algebra, intermediate algebra, college algebra and trigonometry, to refresh my very rusty skills. Wayne had textbooks to loan for every level (helpful as I was not taking the classes over). He also can help with using a graphing calculator if you use one.
My experience was so much different than it was as a high school and college student first time around. I really felt like I understood what I was learning. Happily, my placement test score was more than adequate! I'm taking calculus now, and I intend to call on Wayne if I need help during the semester!
Mr. L. went through all of the chapters in my review book I needed help in and patiently explained to me the various concepts. While teaching he wrote down important points (which helped me study later), and he went through the sample problems with me. Sometimes he would also provide context to the problems we were doing, showing me where the Physics I was learning was seen in the world. Overall, Mr. L.'s teaching allowed me to take the AP Physics test with confidence and earn a great score on the SAT II Physics test. Physics B is scary because of the breadth of it---from mechanics to buoyancy to relativity to electricity and magnetism. With Wayne L.'s help, I was able to grasp all of the concepts. Most amazing of all, this was all done in a few months!
I started with Wayne at the beginning of my 19 day physics 1 class. I had not done any math related classes for a few years due to the military. He not only got me up to speed with my math skills but kept me a head of the game in my fast paced class. He was easily reached, had very flexible hours and was always on time. I would strongly recommend him for any physics based class.
High school senior found him very patient, thorough and easy going - helped her get through required math classes. Thanks.
My son said that working with Wayne was the first time that he fully understood all of the concepts. His final is next week but before this tutoring he felt he would be lucky to get a C on his final. After just two sessions he feels with continued tutoring over the next few days he could confidently get a B or even an A. I will follow up next week.
Mr Wayne is a great tutor. Helped a lot to understand the hardest concepts in physics subjects. He is very helpful for international students because he explains words very clearly and goes over words one by one and makes me understand.
I recently had several tutoring sessions with Wayne. I attend GCC and was tasked with testing out of intermediate algebra and into precalculus. This meant I had to learn a full years worth of math over the Christmas holiday. I was very impressed with Wayne's preparation. He showed up to our first session with all the topic material I would have to learn. He was very thorough and attentive to detail. I really enjoyed our session and got a lot out of each one. I was successful in testing out of algebra and will definitely be using Wayne's services again throughout this semester and beyond!!
Wayne has been tutoring my son with AP Calculus for a few weeks and from what I am seeing, my son is getting quality tutoring from a great tutor.
My son tells me that he is very patient and works with him to get through anything he has trouble in. Also, Wayne manages class time very wisely with a set schedule for my son every session in order to be prepared for the next session.
I am also satisfied with the fact that Wayne comes prepared with textbooks and study materials. He explains the concepts very well with the use of many examples to enforce them.
As an educator, administrator, a National Common Core Standards Board Member, AIMS test writer, ISAT test review/writer and a member of the NCTM member all within the last 20 years, I would unequivocally recommend Wayne L. as a tutor for Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. Not only is he extremely brilliant, but he highly motivates students to want to learn and holds their attention like no other. My daughter was very fortunate to have Wayne explain, provide and give her practice problems, along with visuals in order to assist her in studying for 2 Honors Chemistry high school course. Unfortunately, she missed the month of March due to a severe break to her foot and was bedridden and homebound which forced her to completely miss the whole month of March. She did everything that she could complete during April, May and June which was highly intense due to her schedule of classes. Wayne came into a situation where my daughter had only notes that were posted on a power point from when she was absent. She was provided with no materials and just topics on two chapters. Wayne made sure that she understood the material and more. It was the most impressive teaching that I have seen during my twenty years of evaluating highly qualified educators. We were lucky to have him work with her. We will utilize Wayne next year while she takes honors physics due to his ability to explain and show students how to understand and develop a truly valuable teaching experience. I would highly recommend Wayne for any student who is given the opportunity to have him provide him/her with his tremendous ability to teach and his amazing knowledge base that he is able to "give" to his students.
Wayne has been tutoring Physics to my son (completed 2nd year college and going onto 3rd year) through this summer. He is very patient, explains very well and does very well keeping pace with my son's learning and retention. He explains the concepts very well by going beyond what the book shows by teaching through examples that are easy to understand. Overall I found Wayne to be an excellent tutor and I will recommend Wayne highly!
Wayne is a very patient tutor and this is exactly what we were looking for. He is able to connect easily with my son and break problems into simple methods of understanding. He works well on identifying my son's weaknesses and spends time to get him back on track to overcome it.
I've had some problems understanding my summer physics teacher as this is her first year ever teaching and it's unfortunate that she cannot teach very well. I am pleased to say that Wayne has helped a lot with homework and test questions and I am doing quite well in the class now!
Wayne has explained to me what my teacher did not or could not. He made it possible for me to get a good grade in Algebra II / Trig and also in Physics. Wayne is a patient and a very nice man. Thank you Wayne! I recommend him to anyone who is struggling!
I really enjoyed working with Wayne. He was very patient and encouraging and made sure that I understood every concept that we went over. I felt much better about physics after he left and we are grateful to have found such an excellent tutor!
Today was the first tutor session with Wayne. Very good first session. Our son will be turning in his next math assignment complete and on time! Plenty of work ahead and we are confident math grades will be on the rise. Thanks again, Wayne.
Wayne's good at breaking down concepts! I liked how I didn't have to ask specific questions, rather he could illustrate concepts and just draw up practice problems to get going. Very knowledgeable and nice, highly recommend!
Wayne is very professional and friendly. My 15 year old son felt at ease with him. It was a positive experience. He's only had one session with Wayne but we are pleased and plan to continue.
I was impressed that Wayne showed up prepared by bringing his own books, which turned out to be extra helpful since our daughter forgot to bring her textbook home! I think he was patient and a great tutor. Looking forward to studying for the test next week.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
