I strive to work hardest at understanding the different ways people learn and retain information. Growing up, I experienced difficulties learning by means of traditional methods. I had to realize my challenges in order to figure out how to get beyond them and succeed. Looking back, I've gained a lot by learning how to learn. And I want to help others do the same!
As teachers, we seek to assist students in reaching their short term goals while motivating them to explore available opportunities applicable for the future. Having been through the whole college journey fairly recently, I am excited to help students through not only the aspects of grasping curriculum, but also time management, study skills, exam preparation, and the various struggles all students face in the process of applying a conceptual education to life beyond school. The key to keeping students engaged is compassion, patience, and creativity.
Previously, I have worked teaching SAT/ACT and subject test exams to pre-college students. I have also worked positions as a multi-media reporter, civil court room intern, and private homework tutor for various subjects in California and Arizona. I currently work at a local non profit in center city Philadelphia. I speak Chinese.
I have a degree in political science and news editorial journalism from Temple University. I also minored in sociology, and all of this paints a portrait of my broad interests. While my forte is English and humanities, I have an active understanding of various science and math subjects.
