My name is Gerardo and I am a Chemistry teacher at a local Phoenix high school. I teach AP Chemistry and Honors Chemistry. I have been teaching for approximately 8 years. I have my B.S. with a Minor in Chemistry from Northern Arizona University and a Masters from Arizona State University in Curriculum and Instruction in Math and Science. I have real-world experience in the application of chemistry. Prior to teaching I worked as a chemist for 8 years in Phoenix. My teaching styles are inclined towards inquiry-based methods. I am also highly proficient and knowledgeable in other basic subjects such as GED and Algebra.
Chemistry is an abstract concept and thus is not an easy subject to learn, so I try to use inquiry as a teaching method. I try to use creativity that allows me to integrate many ideas into my teaching. In the spirit of inquiry, I allow the learner to engage in scientifically oriented questions, which eventually permits them to tap into their prior knowledge and connect their explanations to scientific knowledge. I dedicate myself to my students to help them comprehend challenging concepts. I am ready to make learning chemistry and any other subject enjoyable.
Sincerely,
Gerardo
