My first language is French. I was born in Quebec, the French speaking province of Canada. I went to college and worked in France. I speak with a perfect Parisian French accent but if you want to learn the French Canadian accent, I can teach it too ;-) My children are perfectly bilingual, as I speak French at home everyday. I am extremely knowledgeable about French grammar and I find it easy to explain and give tricks to remember the rules. Because I went through the process of learning a second and a third language (English and Spanish), I understand the process and the struggle. I truly believe that the best way to learn is to use the language on a regular basis.
The first step is to set goals together. Do you want to learn because you are planning a trip to France? Do you need help with your French class assignments? Do you want to learn conversational French only or do you need to learn reading and writing?
Secondly, let's have fun learning. We can have a coffee together or a fun activity while you learn. I love to hike and run (with beginners or experts). I also road bike, mountain bike, kayak and roller-blade. I am a swimming instructor and I can teach tennis. I play and can teach piano. I love wine, art and music. I also traveled the world so I can give you good tips for your next trip!
Sometimes, we'll have to spend the entire hour at a table, learning grammar. Other times, we can spend the entire time walking and talking about a subject that interests, practicing what you've learned. Or we can do half and half. Once you reach a certain level, it will be up to you. But my priority is to make it fun and make sure that you practice and use French as much as possible. That's the key to success.
