My name is Gretchen and I am a seasoned tutor of students of all ages. I began tutoring math when I was 12 to high school seniors and have expanded my clientele to people of all ages (from 8-50) in subjects such as Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus A-D, English, Literature (Shakespeare included), History, and High School Sciences. I also provide SAT, LSAT, GMAT and BAR exam test prep.
My method of tutoring is to first determine what the best style of learning is for each student and then design a lesson plan/study guide that best works for them. Everyone learns differently (memorization, repetition, rationalization) and at different rates so it is important for me to learn about my client first, then design a tutorial program that fits their learning style so they can readily receive the tools I am providing and incorporate them into their daily study routine. When it comes to test preparation, I prepare study calendars specifically designed for each client's lifestyle and daily routines.
I also believe in working with parents and will provide them with tools that they can use to assist their child in improving their study habits and grades.
I prefer to tutor at the Sunrise Mountain Library at 98th Ave and Lake Pleasant Pkwy in Peoria. I find it much more productive to take the student out of the home environment where there are multiple distractions so we can focus and make the most of our time together.
I received my B.A. from Yale University (double major in Economics and Japanese Studies) at 20 years old and a law degree (J.D.) from U.C. Berkeley, Boalt Hall at 23. I currently run my entertainment law practice from home and home school my daughter.
