My name is Joseph and I'm a professional accountant and an amateur musician. I also speak, read, and write Russian fluently. I live in north Scottsdale and I would like to become your tutor if you are looking for help in Russian language, sight-singing, or accounting.
I received my B.A. degree in Russian language from Temple Univeristy in Philadelphia. I supplemented my education with two summers of Russian language study in Leningrad (today- St. Petersburg), Russia, and to this day, I keep current by watching Russian television via the internet, keeping in touch with my Russian friends via Skype, and occasionally translating or interpreting. I can help you with grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, listening comprehension, literature, and culture.
I am an avid amateur musician. Nowadays I am a tenor in the Phoenix Symphony Chorus and in two other vocal ensembles in the Valley. I also play the 25-bell carillon at St. Barnabas church, (near Scottsdale and Lincoln) on Sunday mornings and often on Sunday evenings too. I became a good sight-reader while singing in an ensemble that sang only a capella, not only in concert, but in rehearsals too. For a singer, the better a sight-reader you are, the more likely you will land a paying church or synagogue job. In fact, many choir directors will choose a good sight-reader over a singer with a more beautiful-sounding voice, but who can't sight-read well. I can help you become a good sight reader using the methods and tools that made me the good sight reader that I am today.
And yes, if you are a singer interested in the Russian repertoire, I can provide you with accurate transliterations and translations, so let me help you with that, too!
I am a also professional accountant. I've worked in the accounting field for over thirty years. I can help you with what it takes to get from books of original entry to financial statements and everything in between.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to helping you learn!
