I have been an educator for 15 years and still love it! For the past 4 years I have worked part time in the capacity of tutor, homeschool teacher, curriculum developer, social skills teacher as well as support speech, occupational therapy, and other Individual education plan goals. As a tutor I have worked on specific academic skills a student was struggling with and helped him do much better on tests at school raising his grade from a C to an A.

As a homeschool teacher I taught the entire homeschool curriculum 1-3 days per week of for two young men. I also helped their parents design their curriculum. I worked at home and in the community with three children, providing habilitation and respite; we worked on social and life skills ranging from ordering in a restaurant to playing games and doing laundry.

Before becoming a stay-at-home mom and individual tutor, I taught full time in the classroom for 11 years. I taught 1st, 2nd and 6th grade regular education classes, Learning Disability Resource, and self-contained special education specifically for cross-categorical and Autism classrooms in both public and private schools. Four out of 6 of my current students were formerly in my classrooms. I have had a rewarding and diverse teaching career of 15 years, so far and, because of the diversity of my experience I have not “burned out;” on the contrary, I am still in love with what I do.

I am currently seeking work with new students in a one-to-one or small group setting on a part time basis. I am available on Friday mornings, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, and some Sunday afternoons. I am willing to provide transportation if we work in the community on life/social skills. Please contact me to begin dialogue about how I can meet your specific needs.
