My name is Barbara, and I'm a former elementary school teacher from Ohio. My favorite subjects to teach were math/arithmetic and the Language Arts--handwriting, spelling, English grammar, usage and punctuation. I taught students in grades 4-8, and I was certified for grades 1-8 for any subject.

If your child, in any grade, up to grade 8, is having trouble with arithmetic, I would be happy to help. My math students generally scored above average on standardized tests. Is English a challenge? I shall be happy to tutor your child in the Language Arts as well. (I am not trained to teach English as a Second Language.)

The materials I use will keep your child's interest, and your child will learn. I shall take your child from the level (s)he is to where (s)he is supposed to be or even higher with patience and consistency. I look forward to helping your child to become the best that (s)he can be.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

(4a-3)(4a+3) (answer)

When you expand binomials: First you take the first part of the first expression (4a) times the first part of the second expression, which also happens to be (4a). Your answer to this part of the problem is 16a2.   Next, you deal with the middle term. In this case the middle term...

7(b-3)-2b=-26 (answer)

Whenever there are parentheses, you must "distribute" them first before solving the problem (provided that there are no other items that take presidence over the parentheses). So 7(b-3) becomes 7b-21.   Now we can set up the information we have. It looks like this: 7b-21-2b=-26...

The first step you take is to note that the answer is in meters squared and that the dimensions are meters. Remember that meters x meters will give you meters squared as the answer. So, the missing part is in meters. Then simply divide 375 by 25. The answer is 15. It's a simple division problem...
