Hello, future friend! My name is Kalia and I am a 26 year old full time mom. After teaching 4th grade for two years, I decided to stay home with my newborn son. I started tutoring classmates in elementary school and chose to pursue teaching as a career because I've always enjoyed helping others to learn. Once I graduated from ASU with an Elementary Education degree, I had the opportunity to teach in England for 18 months. When I got home, I worked as a substitute teacher and instructional aid until I got a full time teaching job at the American Leadership Academy. My students thanked me for my patience and humor and their parents appreciated my ability to explain information clearly and communicate effectively.
I believe students should be active participants in their own learning by engaging in discussions and hands-on activities. My listening and observation skills allow me to meet the needs of individuals through planning and preparation. In my free time, I love to read, play sports and games, draw, make crafts, sing, listen to music and spend time with my family. I know that my experience and personality will enable me to help children achieve great things as students. I look forward to creating a positive and successful learning environment with you.
