Passion to teach Japanese/Math
Japanese is my first language.
Mathematics has been always the best subject I am very good at and fond of.
I graduated from Groton-Dunstable Regional HS in Massachusetts and gained a bachelor's degree (Pol. Science) from Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan. I passed entrance exams such as SAT, GMAT, ACTs, good enough to achieve the level required by competitive universities in both US and Japan. After graduation, I worked for the Japan's Public Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) as a journalist for 15 years until my marriage in the US. Japanese and Mathematical subjects never became below A+, and I was always on the dean's list.
My experience of teaching Japanese/Math has started since my university days: I taught business people Japanese/English at private schools and also became a home tutor teaching elementary, junior, high school and college students Japanese/English/Math/Science.
My method is simple: Follow the primary textbook along with his/her OWN pace. If a student cannot keep up with the pace in the classrooms, I will review a primary source with him/her and let a student solve basic problems until he/she understands. If he/she is in the advanced level, I give him/her practical questions and let him/her explain the process how it was solved to see the level of understandings.
Please contact me if you are interested in my experience of teaching.
