I taught phonics when raising our two sons at a very early age, and other children and youth at a day care center, as I worked with every age group - the two year old group, three year old group, the four year old group, kindergarten group, and even some of the after school age older children and youth when they needed help with reading, spelling, or enunciation of words. Due to the fact that these children, including our own two before they went to kindergarten, learned phonics early on, these children could read well beyond their "school age or grade" and their comprehension was beyond their ages as well.
