I am originally from Kenya, Africa, and currently a sophomore at Mesa Community College with a 3.47 GPA. My major is Computer Information Systems.
Growing up I had a lot of academic problems, especially with mathematics, until I met a teacher in my last year of lower high school who told me to "own it and make it my own." I love puzzles and games so he showed me to take every math problem as a level in a game, a challenge to be overcome. I followed his advice and was admitted to one of the finest upper high schools in the country.
Every student is unique and every problem has a solution. Maybe its a change of scenery from the library to the class or to the park, or they need to listen to their favorite music as they do homework. It worked for me and to thank that one teacher who changed my life and grades I hope to change another student's life.
My methods maybe unconventional and I have no certifications (I can provide my transcript on request however) but it is said, " The man who walks with the crowd will get no further than the crowd, but the man who walks alone will go to places where no man has walked before."
