I love to teach, especially those who want to learn. I have great patience and learned to present the material in a manner that YOU can understand.

I am a Silver Apple Recipient. I am state certified in California and Missouri and have been certified in Arizona. I have training in teaching reading and spelling. I have tutored youth and adults in the same. The method I have learned to teach them is not long and drawn out and it increases their self esteem. I teach by helping you to use the part of your brain where you store information and the method you use to put it there and to retrieve it from your memory. Using this method adults and youth have been to taught how to spell correctly in one session. I graduated BYU 1956, U of AZ 1962, took education classes at U of California Riverside in 1963. I then taught at High School for 4 years. I moved to Cerritos College 11 years and to Missouri for 4 years. In 1988 I came to Mesa and taught Biology, Chemistry and ESL content for 11 years. I do not smoke nor use alcohol. I am 77 yrs old and in very good health.

Biology

I have 20 semester hours of Biology and have taught HS Biology for 18 yrs. I teach concepts using topics and content. Certified to teach Biology in Calif., Missouri and AZ.

Chemistry

I have high ratings for the tutoring done with WyzAnt. I present the basic concepts of chemistry in easy terms which you can understand. I have taught HS Chemistry for 10 yrs. I am certified to teach Chemistry in Missouri.

General Computer

Certified Master Computer Technician. I have built and repaired numerous computers. Taught the use of computers for 3 years, to peers, and at the high school level for 28 years.

Reading

I have taught students to read since 1984. My training for teaching students with learning difficulties is one on one. The traditional reading methods are not used, if they worked the students would have already learned to read. My training is with New Pathways Learning out of Boulder, Colorado. The methods used are to increase the word spelling, word recognition, eye tracking and the memory.

Physical Science

I have 18 years teaching HS General Science.

Ecology

My major at U of AZ is Applied Plant Ecology. I taught College Field Botany (11 yrs) which included Ecology. I used the Ecology as a Range Conservationist with BLM.

Spelling

I have taught elementary school. I also learned specific and direct methods to teach spelling techniques. These techniques are what the winners of spelling bees use.

This technique provides a quick and easy methods to spell correctly. It also improves the reading ability.

I learned this teaching method and technique through 3 summer workshops. It is not taught in colleges and universities.

ESL/ESOL

I was endorsed to teach content ESL in AZ. I have 21 semester hours in ESL from AZ State Univ and Mesa Com. College. I taught ESL Science, ESL Biology and ESL Chemistry for 10 years. I, as a volunteer, taught ESL English in Chile for 1 1/2 years. I also taught as a volunteer ESL teacher at Deseret Industries for 2 years. I worked in Texas with Spanish speaking individual for 2 1/2 years.

Botany

I have a BS in Botany - 43 quarter hours, with Soils and Animal Husbandry Minor. The supporting courses for my MS from U of AZ were in Botany - 9 semester hours. U of Montana - 9 semester hours. Dyslexia

I began working with individuals with dyslexia in 1982. I was trained at New Pathways Learning in Boulder, Co. I taught in Missouri and California. I have worked with youth and adults. Individuals have improved reading and writing skills. One would never write notes to friends, take essay tests, anything with writing. Macintosh

I am a Certified Master Computer Technician. I used a Macintosh for 11 years. I taught the use of the Macintosh for 3 years. I have written programs for the Macintosh. I have helped my sister with her Macintosh for 15 years.

Microbiology

I have 8 sem hrs of college Microbiology. I have taught 18 yrs of H.S. Biology which included Microbiology. I also taught 11 yrs. of College Botany which included Microbiology. I taught 3 yrs. of College Microbiology as part of a Majors Biology course. Microbiology includes description, classification, identification and growth of Bacteria. Also presented is the importance of Bacteria, both good and bad, for our health. The control of the bad bacteria is explained.

Pascal

I have a certificate of Master Computer Technician and learned Pascal. I then learned Turbo Pascal. I taught Computer Language in Turbo Pascal for 3 years at a local high school in Missouri.
