I earned a bachelor’s degree in Christian Education and Youth Ministry from Concordia University in St. Paul, MN. I earned a master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from Texas Tech University.
I have been involved in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) since 1986. I started my ESL teaching career in Tokyo, Japan. I was there for 6 ½ years teaching and working with the Japan Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Language Institute. My students were pre-kindergarten age through senior citizens using a variety of curricula and materials. Other teaching experience abroad includes Luther University near Seoul, where I taught for one year.
Stateside, I have taught in intensive English programs at Arizona State University (American English and Culture Program) and Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX. I currently teach ESL at Pima Community College and tutor individual students of varying ages.
In addition to having served in foreign mission fields, I have also been involved with campus ministry at Texas Tech University, international student ministry at ASU, and youth and family ministry in California.
I have been fortunate to work with students from six continents and enjoy learning from the different cultures on a regular basis. While I usually work with college-age students, I can and do work with children and adults of different ages and levels.
