I was a dental assistant in the military for 8 years...that being said we are not 'certified' but we go thru extensive military training and I do have an associates in both areas from the Community College of the Air Force. During that time I assisted in: general dentistry, oral surgery, periodontics, endodontics, and prosthodontics. I was also responsible for taking and processing dental xrays and I also cleaned teeth (hygientist) for 6 of those years. I loved cleaning teeth as it gave me a chance to do one on one dental education with patients, but it was hard on my back & hands.
