When working with students, I try to look at the whole person and create a plan that will help him or her become self reliant and successful. I believe that any person can learn and achieve. We all have gifts and challenges. When students are given the tools to overcome their challenges, they are able to capitalize on their gifts. Students who feel good about themselves can do anything! I am a current Montessori teacher with 18 years of experience in the classroom. My students have ranged in age from three years old to twelve years old. In the past eight years, I have been given the opportunity to work with a wide range of children. My Montessori experience has given me the unique opportunity to learn to teach in a hands on manner. This is especially helpful in the area of math. Many of my students have special needs ranging from specific learning differences to ADHD/ADD, Aspergers,and dyslexia. I have been fortunate enough to obtain training in reading, writing, phonics, Aspergers, ADHD, optimum study skills for different types of learners, and curriculum planning to meet IEP goals.
